Process of custom designing lampshades!

I am so happy when I get to #custom #design #lampshades for someone's home or business. For me it's a lot of fun to #collaborate! First I show my current designs to my client to get an idea what they like. Then I have the fun part of visiting their space to look at the #decor and measure lamps to assess sizes. Together we come up with options on #designs, #patterns, #scale, #material, and #sizing. I print out a batch of #samples which we assess in the space together, and from there I print out the material that will be turned into the lampshades. Currently I am working with a lovely new #boutique #concept #hotel #casadelphine www.casadelphine.com.

I read the post about teaching raciolinguistic ideologies using Asian American history and it made me think about how language and power connect in ways we don’t always notice, especially in schools and society. It reminded me of times when I struggled to balance ideas with deadlines, so I had to do my Philosophy class early one morning before joining a discussion on identity and language. That busy day taught me how thinking deeply about both ideas and context can make learning feel real and meaningful.
